Notes
The butterfly is locally not rare in montane forests at low to moderate elevations (Alt. 150 - 1000m).
It is distributed from the north-west to peninsular Thailand along the Tenasserim range.
The relationship between this taxon and ssp.siamensis is interesting.
In Chiang Mai province, ssp.ancon is found in the west and ssp.siamensis in the east (from Doi Saket district, east of Chiang Mai city).
Around Chiang Mai city is the central region, but neither has been found yet.
The specimen from Chiang Mai shown above, with white areas extending to the upperside of both wings, is considered an extreme individual of the dry season form.
Further taxonomic and distributional studies are needed.
