The butterfly is uncommon in montane primary forests at low elevations (Alt. 30 - 100m) and is occasionally found along forest paths.
This species and Deramas nelvis are indistinguishable by their markings, and the examination of genitalia is needed.
Therefore, I do not adopt previous records that did not examine male genitalia.
The taxon in P.Thailand has long been regarded as ssp.evansi, however it is considered to be the nominotypical subspecies based on the characteristics of markings on the UpF.
A female specimen from Ranong shown above seems slightly approaching ssp.evansi.
The figured specimens, figs.33-34 in Kimura (1998b) and a male in Kimura et al. (2014) shown as Deramas livens evansi from Yala are considered to be Deramas alixae based on the ground color and markings on the underside.
The male specimen in figs.31-32 in Kimura (1998b) seems a variation of Deramas alixae or possibly Deramas nelvis, and figs.35-36 could be Deramas nelvis, however the identification of these specimens are very difficult and requires examination of genitalia.
Further taxonomic study and distributional research are needed.
