The butterfly is not rare in montane forest at low to moderate elevations (Alt. 200 - 600m).
Males are territorial on shrubs or undergrowth.
This taxon was known as iapis, however was separated by Tsukada,1991 based on differences in male genitalia and markings.
Males of this species and Cynitia flora are hardly distinguishable except examination of the genitalia.
