The butterfly is uncommon in montane forests at moderate elevations.
Pendlabury (1923) recorded "Pantoporia abiasa clerica" (Athyma clerica) from the summit of Khao Luang, Nakhon Si Thammarat.
Later, in 1933, he corrected it to "Pantoporia ranga malaya" (Athyma matanga).
Ek-Amnuay ([2007],2012) recorded it from 'Ranong', but this is rather doubtful and reconfirmation by reliable specimens is needed.
