The butterfly is locally not rare in montane forests at moderate elevations (Alt. 500 - 900m).
Both sexes visit flowers.
The populations from S.E.Thailand and Cambodia appear to be intermediate, but slightly closer to ssp.calathus than ssp.balta.
I tentatively treat them as the nominotypical subspecies, but we need to compare them with the nearby populations.
Further taxonomic study is needed.
