This is the first reliable record from Thailand.
The butterfly is locally not rare in montane forests at moderate elevations (Alt. 600 - 700m).
Males are territorial on trees at hilltops.
Pinratana (1985) listed a record of the species in Nakhon Nayok and Chiang Mai.
However, I consider these records are most likely to be Halpe zola.
Furthermore, the record of Halpe zema ormenes in Mae Hoi by Shirôzu & Saigusa (1962) is certainly that of Halpe zema zema by the figure of male genitalia.
