Notes

The butterfly is uncommon in montane forests at low to moderate elevations (Alt. 450 - 600m). Males frequently come to the banks of streams and puddles to suck water.
This species can only be distinguished from Coladenia tanya by examination of the male genitalia.
In the Ranong province, P.Thailand, both the nominotypical subspecies and ssp.sundae have been confirmed. As far as we know, the population of Chanthaburi, S.E.Thailand is ssp.sundae, but de Jong & Treadaway,1992 recorded ssp.agni. Although the male genitalia of the continental sundae is completely identical to that of ssp.agni, it is possible that these two taxa are different species based on their distribution. Further taxonomic and distributional studies are needed.
