The butterfly is uncommon in montane forests at low to moderate elevations (Alt. 400 - 800m) and is crepuscular.
Males frequently come to the banks of streams and puddles to suck water.
Individuals which seem to be intermediate between ssp.margana and ssp.velva occasionally occur in Tak to Ratchaburi, W.Thailand.
It seems to be a transitional zone between both taxa.
