The list is based on the following collections: the late A. Pinratana, the late P. Sukkit, A. Cotton, K. Saito & Y. Inayoshi; the photo archives: M. Hayashi, T. Aoyama, K. Yano, A. Giudici, the late L. Day and S. Sophonviwatkul;
(all specimens and photos are confirmed by Y.Inayoshi.)
Various previous books and papers were also consulted.
The list is mainly based on Kimura et al. (2011–2016) "The Butterflies of Thailand. Based on the Yunosuke Kimura Collection, Volume 1–3".
The extremely small number of records in Phetchaburi Province is due to the very limited research conducted there.
As a result, most of the species listed are common and widely distributed.
More species will be found as research continues.
The area from Phetchaburi to Chumphon (and Ranong) is very interesting, with a variety of different fauna.
In general, it is a transition zone between Malaysian and continental subspecies.
However, some species are continental subspecies, some are Malaysian subspecies and some are more specialised populations.
I suppose that many of the species that currently have their northern limit of distribution around Ranong are likely to be distributed as far as Phetchaburi.
Therefore, identification of taxa requires close examination and thorough comparison of specimens.
